How important is “awareness” in defending your goal?

We at TLPF believe ice awareness and player awareness are absolutely essential to playing sound defensive hockey.  The players on the ice must know their opponents tendencies and who is on the ice to defend against.  Every player must know their role and be capable of executing their role in good situational hockey.  Knowing where your opponents are on the ice is essential to defending and executing your role.  We would ask you to review this video clip to answer these questions: 1. Did the defending team know who was on the ice to defend against? 2. Did the defending players know their roles?3. Did the defending team execute their roles? 4. Were ice and player awareness issues evident in defending?
